Open Assistant Professor Faculty Position in Bacteriology at the Department of Biological Sciences, Middle East Technical University (METU), Ankara, Turkey

Bacteriologists are invited to send an application for an open faculty position candidate pooling at the Biological Sciences Department of Middle East Technical University (METU), Ankara.

Candidates holding a Ph.D. degree in Microbiology received for research in Bacteriology with appropriate postdoctoral experience will be considered for the position. We expect candidates to have conducted research in bacterial genetics using molecular biology approaches such as genomics, metagenomics, proteomics, transcriptomics. We favor applicants with experience using advanced imaging and microscopy techniques. Applicants must have a strong background in molecular genetics and molecular biology of bacteria.

We expect applicants to present a minimum of 5 research articles; 3 of the five must be WOS Q1 category publications. A commitment to graduate and undergraduate teaching is also required. The successful applicant is expected to establish an independent research group and procure extramural funding. These include TUBITAK reintegration fellowships (2232), TUBITAK young investigator grants (3501), TUBITAK research grants (1001/1002), Marie Curie Reintegration Grants, EMBO Installation Grants, ERC Starting Grants, and other international relevant grants.

Applications will be accepted until May 30, 2022. Selected applicants will be invited to give a seminar. Applicants should send a cover letter that includes (i) CV, (ii) single-page summaries of research and teaching statements, (iii) complete contact information for three references.
